Introducing
Dermal Fillers
As we age, our facial skin progressively loses its elasticity and begins to sag. This happens for many reasons, including exposure to the sun, smoking, diet and stress. Changes in the deeper layers of the skin also contribute to the signs of ageing; the bone and soft tissues degenerate, especially in the mid-face, which can lead to a flattening of the facial features.
By adding volume to these areas the facial fullness can be restored, and enhanced, to lessen the signs of ageing.
About Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers contain injectable hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in human skin. Hyaluronic acid hydrates skin, in turn creating a fuller and plumper appearance, by attracting and holding onto water.
The following treatments can be done successfully:
- Nasolabial lines (laughter lines)
- Perioral lines (smokers lines around the mouth)
- Glabellar (frown) lines (if too deep for Botox alone)
- Chin creases
- Cheek creases
- Any other creases or lines on the face

Frequently Asked Questions
Individuals with fine lines/wrinkles caused through volume loss.
As you age your skin loses moisture and elasticity, meaning when you show facial expressions like laughing or frowning your skin will not ‘snap back’ as it did when you were younger.
Dermal fillers work by plumping your skin, essentially filling in the lines and wrinkles in the process, as well has adding volume. Your skin will appear dramatically smoother after treatment.
Injectable hyaluronic acid is injected into the skin to add volume and creates a more youthful appearance. Areas commonly injected are nose to mouth lines (naso-labial lines/folds), lines around the mouth (peri-oral/smokers lines), lines between the brows (glabellar) and the lips.
Dermal fillers usually last for 6-12 months. They are all fully biodegradable and therefore will break down gradually over time.
How the area looks and feels is the best indicator that a top-up is needed, and differs between individuals.
There are very few reported side effects with these products. As with any injections, bruising is the most common however is usually minimal and can be covered up effectively with makeup.
You must inform your practitioner if you take any blood thinning medications i.e. warfarin or aspirin.
